More on the New York Times…

The New York Times continues to get attention for its new building. Slate is the latest to weigh in with a slideshow essay.

There was one comment that caught my attention:

“Newsrooms are the heart of a newspaper. Rather than being hidden away, as they were in the old Times building on 43rd Street, here the newsrooms are in a low annex visible from the street, especially at night.”

There’s clearly a trend for newsrooms to be much more integrated into their community, rather than being tucked away. And creating physical transparency mirrors the push for more transparency in the way a newsroom operates and interacts with its community.
