Get ready for The Next Newsroom Conference

The Next Newsroom Conference is officially only two months away. We’ll be sending e-mail invitations out this week with details on how to register and what you can expect when you come.

Part of the event that I hope will be different is Day 2. We’ll be generally following an “un-conference” format. The day will be structured around several rounds of breakout sessions. What’s different about this format is that the topics of those sessions will be proposed and chosen by conference attendees. If you propose a session, you’ll help facilitate a discussion on that topic, and then report back the headlines to the whole group. We hope this will spark a number of interesting conversations that will help us — and you — identify issues and opportunities we need to consider as we create the newsroom of the future.

When you register, I’ll send you a link to our conference wiki where you can propose subjects for those breakout sessions.

But in the meantime, I’d like to hear from folks about what kinds of things they’d like to discuss, or hear someone discuss, about the future of newsrooms in general — or your newsroom. This is a chance to really make this day relevant to the things that are important to you, and to have some conversations that are hopefully both inspiring and practicial.
